Welcome to Cakes2Connect

A number of older women live alone and don’t have family or friends close by. In addition, there are younger single mothers facing very challenging situations for different reasons. Our goal is to brighten these women’s birthdays and create special moments by showing that we care through our donated cakes. With these cakes, our recipients know that one of our Volunteers took the time to bake and decorate just for them.

We are run by compassionate women who are enthusiastic and positive Volunteers. Our Volunteers bake and deliver small birthday cakes to deserving women. Through this gesture, we hope to make a difference as the memory of this simple kindness lingers in the heart of each recipient.

Fun Facts: Round cakes started in Ancient Greece to honour the Moon Goddess, with candles symbolizing its light. During the 16th century (or thereabouts), cakes started to be enjoyed in Germany during children’s birthday celebrations, mostly for the wealthy. The Industrial Revolution was the great cake equalizer due to more affordable ingredients. Birthday cakes are a symbol of milestones achieved, happiness, and celebrations, with the most popular flavour in the world being our favourite - chocolate!
